Flying off campus
Off-campus flight locations are often ideal: Advanced operations present fewer risks in remote areas with lower population density, and geographic characteristics and features like working farms are useful for specific research projects.
The UAS Oversight Committee has developed specific protocols to enable those flights. See these pages for more details:
- Flying at Kentland Farm
- Flying at Agricultural Research and Experiment Stations
- Flying on university property not covered by a specific protocol
- Flying university-owned UAS outside university property
Refer to this safe flight guide for recommended best practices for Virginia Tech drone users.
