Other university property

Flights on university property that isn't covered by a specific protocol will be subject to the same requirements that apply to the Blacksburg campus. 

• Read the protocol.

The protocol includes the following requirements: 

• Obtain specific written permission for each flight or mission: apply online. 
• Part 107 FAA Remote Pilot Certificate.
• Virginia Tech UAS training; available through Canvas here. 
• Aircraft must be registered with the university via the online flight application. 

Commercial and third-party operations will have additional requirements.
